About a week ago, I noticed that some leaves on my Chinese elm bonsai started to turn yellow and panic set in. It felt like a flashing sign saying, “Help me!” at first. I quickly checked the soil moisture and realized I'd been overwatering the poor thing, especially since I got a bit overzealous with the watering can during the spring rains. I trimmed the yellow leaves with a pair of sharp bonsai scissors, a small fortune at my local shop but worth every penny. I also let the soil dry out slightly before the next watering, ensuring I only watered when the top inch or so was dry. So far, the tree seems to be bouncing back, with new green buds appearing. Keeping an eye on the watering, but fingers crossed it stays healthy.
