I just got a trident maple bonsai last month, and it's been interesting so far. One big pro is how fast it grows. I mean, I can see new leaves every week now that it's spring. The trunk thickens up pretty quick too, which I hoped for. But I didn't realize how much it needs pruning to keep its shape, so I guess that's a bit of a con for someone like me who's still figuring out pruning techniques. Also, watering's tricky to get right—I've had a couple of days where the soil dried out way too fast. Still, the leaves are such a nice color, totally worth the effort. Anyone else have tips on the watering thing?
